The eighth occurred on the 15th of March, on the premises of Mr. George Tonks, in Taranaki-street, the cause being the roof of his taking fare Your brigade and plant were soon upon the spot, but to find the whole of the roof demolished. Your committee in their last annual report had reason to make complaint of the unequal distribution of -r »w plant received from the insurance agents of this city but on this occasion your committee is pleased to report that during the year just closed they have received one more hose-reel, fully equipped; they are therefore satisfied that the distribution of plant you have received is fair. They have also to report that, on the 2nd of March . last, they returned to E. Pearce, Esq., the engines know to you as No. 3 and No. I, the property of the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company, your committee being of opinion that the engines known to you as No. 1 and No. 2 will be sufficient for your requirements a 3 a standby in case of accidents to the street mains. . As you are already aware, you authorised your committee, shortly after your last annual meeting, to devise means for the conveyance of the members and plant to the scene of fire ; they, therefore; invited competitive designs and tenders for two spring vans, and those of Mr. R. W. Watson were accepted for the sum of £BO, which were duly completed and handed over to you in October last; and from the experience you have ihad of them they have proved a useful addition to your plant. . ..
