THEATRE ROYAL.
Last evening a new season was commenced at this place of amusement, under the management of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hoskins, and, judging from the satisfactory opening, a successful term may be anticipated. There was a very large house, the dress circle being unusually well patronised, and the plaudits which followed the conclusion of each act testified the hearty appreciation of the efforts of the company. The play performed was Sheridan Knowles’ “Hunchback,” a piece which never fails to draw a good house, but it is doubly attractive when artists such as Mr. and Mrs. •Hoskins and Mrs. Walter Hill are announced to take the leading characters, and it is needless to say that it went off with the greatest ecla t. To-night “ The Jealous Wife ” and “ The Serious Family” are to be brought forward.
