THE HEBREWS IN JOSHUA’S TIME.
TO THE EDJTOK. Sir.,—l have carefully read all the letters concerning Joshua’s ordering the sun and moon to stand still I really do not understand the religious or scientific point, neither can I understand why “ Reviewer ” calls them an ignorant or superstitious people, for the building of the Holy Temple in Moses’s time must convince the writer that they were a highly gifted people, and were greatly advanced in ail that makes a nation great. I could not suffer ray people to bo so misjudged without a word in their favor. Trusting you will find room for this,—l am, &c., ° Hebrew. Wellington, May 20. [We insert the foregoing in justice to the Hebrew race, although we had closed the correspondence on the subject,—E». N.Z.T.]
