The Auckland Provincial Council has passed a resolution, in favor of abolishing provincial institutions, substituting therefor local bodies, without debate. It would seem as if there had been a surprise in the matter; but we suspect the Council had como to a foregone conclusion. However, Mr. Siieehan, Provincial Secretary, has given notice of motion, by way of addition, to the abstract resolution adopted by the Council, to the effect that the abolition of provincial institutions should apply to the whole colony, but should only be considered in a new Parliament. Wo shall soon loarn how the Auckland Council will treat this question, We suspect tho majority will think, if a change is to be made, it were well it were made quickly. Either Provincial Government should be abolished or it should not; and the present Assemr bly is quite as competent to decide, that question as a new Parliament.
