PICTON, Wednesday, Sailed : Taranaki, s.s., at two a.m., for the North. His Honor the Superintendent and Mrs. Seymour were passengers by her, en route to England.
AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Arrived : Ladybird, s.s.. from Napier. POET CHALMERS, Wednesday. Sailed : Tararua, s.s.,- for Lyttelton ; and Maori, s.s., for tie West Coast ports, via The Bluff. HOKITIKA, Wednesday. Amoved : J. B. Taylor, from Wanganui. The smart topsail schooner Marmlon, belonging to Mr. E. Pearce, arrived at the Heads on Monday afternoon last, but was unable to reach the wharf unt.il yesterday morning, in consequence of being becalmed. Captain Bowton reports leaving the Kaipara on the 6lh. Experienced strong S.E. winds tmtU arriving off the Heads. The schooners Cynthia and Melaine were loading at the Kaipara when the Marmlon left. The s.s. Napier on arriving from Wanganui yesterday afternoon towed the barque Edwin Fox and tho brigantine Mary Bannatyne, the former down to the fairway, and the latter to Somes Island. She also transhipped 53 bales of wool and skins and 31 casks of tallow into the brigantine. The Mary Bannatyne will take in ballast at Somes Island, and will then sail for Lyttelton. The wharf has not presented such a barren aspect for a considerable period as it did yesterday, the schooner Marmion being the only vessel discharging there.
The barque Edwin Bassett cleared out yesterday, in ballast, for Newcastle.
