Some of the French papers state that M., Francis Guerin, a Frenchman, who has returned to Paris from the Cape, is in possession of a white diamond, found in a deserted pit near the “Devil’s Table,” said to bo worth £280,000. A fire broke out in the large saw-mills and timber stores of T. and 0. Martin and Son, North Wall, Dublin. The fire commenced in the joinery-house, which contained very valuable machinery, and quickly spread to stacks of deal and creosoted sleepers. Near the timber stores were the large petroleum and vitriol works of Messrs. Kane, and these were threatened, but luckily escaped, The damage sustained has been jjnmense.
