The meeting of the Parliament of Victoria is fixed for the 25th instant. There is a general expectation in that colony that the tea and sugar duties will be abolished, and a property tax imposed. The Australasian says, “ Some scheme of financial reform is demanded, on the one side by the deficiency of the revenue, and
on the other by the languishing condition of our commerce. The returns lately published show that the revenue for the last quarter was no less 'than X'97,964 below that of the corresponding quarter of last year. The takings for the nine months just ended are £217,024 below the sum anticipated by the Treasurer when he made his Financial Statement.”
