WHARF ACCOMMODATION.
10 THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln your report, in this morning’s issue of your paper, of what took place at the interview between the Hon. Mr. Richardson and the deputation from tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce, you attribute certain remarks to mo in reference to wharf accommodation. I have a very distinct recollection of what I said on the subject. My statement in answer to Mr. Richardson was, that " it was very important to know tho intentions of the Government regarding tho railway wharf, as, in tho event of its being proceeded witli during the year, tho city authorities would in all probability content themselves with a comparatively small extension and with putting tho existing structure in a state of repair.” As my remembrance of the words ! spoke differs somewhat materially from those you ascribe to mo, I trust you will bo good enough to insert this.—l am, &c„ W. 11.
