Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: For Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manukau, per s.s. Phcebe, this day, at 11 a.m. For Napier and Poverty Bay, per s.s. Rangatira, on Monday, at 4 p.m. For Wanganui, per p.s. Manawatu, on Monday, at 1 p.m. For Nelson, Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika, and Australia, per s.s. Otago, on Monday, at II a.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Wellington, on Wednesday, at 3 p.m. Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Hero is expected to leave Auckland, at 1 p.m., this day (Saturday). Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe via Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Office for transmission to Sydney up till 12 o'clock to-day (Saturday).
