The ballast boat Eambler ran foul of the steamer Egmont whilst that steamer was lying at the outer T of the Queen's wharf yesterday. She injured the outer gunwale of the starboard boat, and smashed about 2 feet of the main rails. The Luna, with the Hon. "Dr. Pollen, Colonial Secretary, Mr. Charles Lemon, and several other passengers, took her departure shortly after 1 p.m. yesterday. On leaving the wharf, the Luna towed tho ship Dallam Tower from the stream down to the anchorage. . The s.s. Kapier sailed for Wanganul yesterday at 1 p.m. with a general cargo and two passengers. The s.s. Egmont took her departure last evening for Wanganui and Rangitikei. The schooner Shepherdess arrived yesterday from Pelorna Sound, with a cargo consigned to Greenfield and Stuart. The schooner Forest Queen arrived from Greymonth yesterday morning, after a tedious passage of nine days, caused by a succession of .head winds. She brings several thousand feet of timber and a quantity of coke and bricks, and is consigned to Mclntyre and Co. The Hannah Barratt, schooner, took her departure for Napier last night with a cargo of 600 cases of oil, ex Light of the Age, and several packages. Captain McColl and his well-known brig Alarm will Bail during the course of to-day for Newcastle. The favorite steamer Phoebe, Captain Worsp, arrived yesterday from Lyttelton. She brought over 100 passengers for Wellington and the Northern ports, and a large cargo for all ports. The first officer has kindly furnished us with a report of the passage from Port Chalmers:—Left Port Chalmers at 3.40 p.m. on the 28tb, arrived at Lyttelton at 11.35 a.m. next day, after a smart passage of nineteen hours against a head sea. Sailed at 7 p.m. on the same day, and arrived at the wharf at 1.10 p.m., having met with a head wind and sea during the run acroo3 the Strait. Since the Phcebe was last in port she has been docked at Port Chalmers, for the purpose of getting a new fourbladed propeller in lieu of the temporary two-bladed one whkh she has been running with for some months. Her shaft was also recoated and received a thorough overhaul. The necessary alterations were performed by Messrs. Kincaid and McQueen, the successful tenderers for the repairs, in a most satisfactory manner, under the superintendence of Mr. Leys, the first engineer of the Phcebe, The Phcebe averaged over ten knots from Port Chalmers, against a head wind and sea. The new screw worked in a noiseless manner compared with tho two-bladed one which it has superseded. The schooner Mercury hauled from the wharf yesterday morning, and sailed in ballast for Newcastle. A more beautiful sight has not been witnessed for some time as she sailed down the harbor with all her lower canvas set.
