RANGITIKEI ELECTION.
(from a correspondent.) Mr, Ballance addressed the electors of Turakina on Monday evening. About eighty persons were present —a large number for that district, and marking the interest taken in the election. Mi’. Lethbridge was called to the chair, and at once proceeded to introduce the candidate. Mr. Ballance made an able speech, which lasted over two hours, in which he treated most fully all the main questions of the day. At the close an unanimous vote of confidence in him was passed. On Tuesday Mr. Ballance met the electors of Bulls, when a similar resolution was proposed, seconded, and carried by acclamation. On Wednesday the candidate addressed the electors of Marton ; during the day much excitement prevailed, as this district was supposed to be Mr. Watts's stronghold. Mr. Lyon proposed, and Mr. Temperly seconded, a vote of confidence in Mr. Ballance, and the meeting was called upon to pledge themselves to use all influence to return him. Mr. Ruttemeir proposed a want of confidence motion, which was seconded by Mr. Johnson, but it qnly received the support of eight persons in the meeting, and of these only three were electors. The original motion was supported by over forty.
