The steam collier Easby, Captain Archibald Kennedy, moored alongside the Wellington Wharf from Lyttelton yesterday afternoon. She left that port at 2.45 p.m. the previous day, and owing to a strong N.E. gale which prevailed from her departure till her arrival at Wellington, the run was not accomplished in leas than twenty-four hours. She has no cargo for this port. The Easby will resume her voyage to Sydney and Newcastle at noon to-day with a large number of passengers, no fewer than seventy-one having embarked at Port Chalmers and Lyttelton for Sydney. The steamers Manawatu and Napier, which left this port for Wanganui and Foxton respectively on Monday evening, returned to port yesterday. Captains Evans and Butt, on getting outside, found the strong northerly gale accompanied by a southerly swell, which were almost too much for their vessels, and they deemed it prudent to take shelter in Chaffer’s Passage. The glass yesterday morning failed to indicate any change near at hand, and as Wellington wharf would be safer and more comfortable moorings, the steamers returned to port. However, the wind moderated last evening, when both steamers resumed their voyage. The ship Hudson, from Napier, arrived in Lyttelton harbor on Wednesday last. • The clipper ship Pleiades sailed from Lyttelton on the oth inst., for London. The barque Edwin Fox, which left London within a few days after the departure of the ship Dallam Tower, ought to make her appearance at any moment. She is just upon 120 days out. The steamer Rangatira left last evening for Napier and Poverty Bay with a full cargo aud a number of passengers. The steamer Tararua, with the English mail via Suez arrived at Port Chalmers from The Bluff at 7.15 yesterday morning. Shu will be due here on Thursday morning. The steamer Ino will leave this morning for New Plymouth, with a full cargo of general merchandise shipped by Messrs. Turnbull and Co. The steamer Ladybird, with the outward San Francisco mail, left for Picton, Nelson, Taranaki, and Mannkau punctually at 2 p.ra. yesterday. The barque Heversham cleared at the Customs yesterday, and will probably get to sea to-day.
