The following tenders were received at the Public Works office, Wellington, for the constructio'n of Section No. 3, Thames water-race, viz.;—Accepted; Wm. Foughy, Grahamstown, .£5992. Declined: H. H. Adam, Grahamstown, £6964; James Heron, Grahamstown, £7BOI ; B. and A. Smith, Grahamstown, £7927 ; Alexander Watson, Grahamstown, £8641. The following tender’s were received at the Public Works Office, Wellington, for the permanent-way contract of the Nelson and Foxhill railway :—Accepted : John Scott, Nelson, £14,921. Declined ; Jos. Gilbertson, Kichmond, £15,912; Bray, Bros., Nelson, £17,804. A Macetown correspondent writes to the Times of the 13th ;—“ A most valuable find has been made hero by a party of prospectors, Thos. Hall and mates, of a defined lode, four to five feet in thickness, which it is thought will run about 4 oz. to the ton. The reef is between Twelve-mile Creek and Rogers Gully. The specimens are exceeding rich in gold. The party have applied for a prospectors’ claim. Timber can be got from the Matatapu. Very little can be done until next spring, as the season is too far advanced. The stone resembles that of the Nugget Beef at .Skippers, of which Mr, Hall was tile discoverer.
