Notes, —Very fine bright clear weather, with prevailing N.W. wind, at times strong: rain consldernbls' below average ; max. fall recorded on 20th, 'SOO in.; remarkably high barometer on 9th and 10th, accompanied by fine N.W. weather, but oppressive and hazy; from 19th to 22nd strong N.W. winds with showers, and wet and cold from S.E. on 23rd. Max. temp, in shade, 7G'O ; min., 42‘0. Earthquake felt on 7th at 5.17 a.ra., lasting about four seconds, but slight; also on 13th, at 5.13 p.m., smart. A bright meteor seen on night of 21st; direction, W. to E. R. R. Gore, Government Observer.
