Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follow: — For Lyttelton, Tort Chalmers, Bluff, Australia, and Europe, via Suez (for correspondence specially addressed!, India, China, &c, per s.s: Albion, on Friday, at 12.30 p.m. Money orders and registered letters at 11.00 a.m. , For [Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manukau, per s.s. Phcebe, on Friday, at 1 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Taranaki, on Saturday, at 1 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Star of the South, this day, at 1 p.m. ~ For Sandwich Islands, America, tho West Indies, Europe, Sc, via San Francisco, per s.s, Ladybird, on Tuesday, I3tb inst., at noon. Money orders and registered letters at 10 a.m. Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Otago is expected to leave Hokitika at' 0 a.m. on Saturday, the Bth instant. Telegrams for tho Australian colonies, or Europe via Java cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Olhco for transmission to Melbourn up till 8 p.m. to-day.
