THE THEATRE ROYAL.

Last night “ Still Waters Run Deep” was played for the last time. His Excellency the Governor and the Marchioness of Normanhy were present, and as soon as the hand had played the loyal anthem the curtain rose. The play was never better performed in the colonies. We need say nothing of what Mr. and Mrs. Bates did in their respective parts—for a better Mrs. Steruhold and John Mildmay the colony has not seen ; hut we are compelled to note that the other members of the company, and especially Miss Jessie Raymond and Mr, Burford and Mr. Hydes, performed their parts most satisfactorily. The farce of “ Slasher and Crasher" followed, in which an incident occurred which may never occur again, in the matter of a hat kicked from one to the other, which created roars of laughter. This evening the attraction will he “The Man with the Iron Mask.” Who he was is a historical question which has not been satisfactorily answered by investigators to this day. That some great mystery is involved iu his fate is undoubted, but whether it was one of politics or love is still a doubt. We hope that there will he a good attendance at the Theatre Royal to see the mystery illustrated, so far as the stage is able to do so.
