RACING IN WELLINGTON.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I notice that comments are being made, not only by the Wellington Press, but in a Wanganui newspaper, on the subject of the Wellington Jockey Club having relinquished their idea of holding an autumn meeting this year. As I understand it, the proposal was for one day's racing only, and I very much doubt whether this would have been a sufficient inducement for the highest class of horses to visit Wellington. Depend upon it the club have acted with a wise discretion. Everybody admits that the new club have done wonders, considering their enormous outlay upon the Hutt Course, and other uphiU work.' Their next Spring meeting will, I expect, surpass anything yet seen in Wellington.— I am., &c. An Old Wellington Sportsman. Wellington, March 80.
