[Per Press Agency.] Auckland, Thursday. - No change will take place in the members of the Provincial Executive. Complimentary telegrams have been received to-day by the Superintendent, from the Governor, and the Superintendents of the other provinces, and influential settlers in various parts of this province, congratulating the people of Auckland and the colony upon securing Sir George Grey’s services. A young man was stuck up last night in Bowen-street by two men. He struck one of his assailants on the head with a stick, when both decamped. The ship India cleared for The Bluff, with a portion of her original cargo from London. Geahamstown, Thursday. The Queen of Beauty has declared a dividend of £7lO per share, for the past fortnight. The City of London’s dividend is five shillings per share. Alexandra, Thursday.

Sub-Inspector Northcroft, A. 0., Kihikihi, who started overland for Taranaki, reached ICuiti after some trouble, and was allowed to pass on. A fire there, a few days since, destroyed a considerable quantity of wheat. Wanganui, Thursday. A great fire broke out in Victoria Avenue at three this morning. One part of the premises were occupied by Onslow, draper, and another part by Bain, baker, owner of the buildings. The fire originated in the room occupied by Onslow, who refused to admit people, and when the door was broken in he was found fully dressed. The fire spread over the buildings, and caught the adjoining ones. The fire engines were useless, there being no water nearer than the river. The Telegraph Office was with difficulty saved. There was no wind, else the best part of the town would have been destroyed. The inmates of Bain's house escaped half dressed. The buildings destroyed and insurances on them and stock are—John Anderson, furniture warehouse, National £6OO, Norwich Union £2OO ; P. Loftin, shoemaker, occupied part of this building; Bain, baker, South British £BOO, Standard, £409 ; Samuels, chemist, National, £3OO ; Barr, draper, £2OO ; Hogg, butchery Victoria, £2OO ; total insurance, £2,700. The loss is estimated at £OOOO. A good deal of stock was saved. Onslow was arrested at 6 o’clock, and will be brought up during the afternoon. It is supposed his stock is heavily insured in Nelson, and that he has -sold most of it. Napier, Thursday. Andrew Robertson, the defaulting stevedore, has been arrested on a warrant, at Wanganui, and brought back to Napier, on a charge of wife-desertion, and obtaining money under false pretences. He was fined one shilling and costs for the first offence, and committed for trial at the Supreme Court on the other. The next sitting of the Supreme Court has been fixed for the 31st of Hay. There is a long list of cases for trial, and on the civil side, if the Heretaunga block case is proceeded with, there will probably be a very long session.

Nelson, Thursday. Captain Walker, of the steamer Lady Barkley, brings a report from Collingwood of a portion of wreck being found at West Wanganui. Among other things, a piece of carved wood, 16in. square, with an anchor and a sheaf of wheat, with men on horseback, and a ship in each corner, and evidently broken off, from one end an emu and flax, from the other a kangaroo. One piece of board, fin. wide, with the word “Melbourne,” in gilt letters, and a small tool box, -with the coat of arms repeated j and above it “Advance Australia;” one side of a box, with the word, “ Radoliffe” cut in, and the letters painted black ; another small bit of board, which had been fastened to something with two nails, also bears the word “II ad cliff e." There are no signs of the crew, or anything but the deck of the after-part, except a portion of a boat, with a keel 15ft. long. From the reported size of the boom, Captain Walker fancies the vessel must have been one of about 100 tons. Christchurch, Thursday. The articled clerks and law students have taken preliminary steps to form an association for this province. The Superintendent of Otago, having offered a portion of the salmon ova, expected by the ship Timaru, to the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, Mr. Johnston, the curator, proceeds to Dunedin on Saturday, to take charge of it. The Provincial Gazette contains a notification that black swans do not come -within the provisions of the Act relating to native game and its preservation. The Theatre Company play a cricket match, in costume, tragedy versus comedy, on Monday next, with the view of obtaining funds for the establishment of a Dramatic Association for New Zealand. Port Chalmers, Thursday. Arrived : Barque Mary Brain, from Melbourne, 6th March, In addition to her cargo for this port, she has 6723 mats of sugar for Auckland. Great anxiety prevails as to the fate of the schooner Euphrosyue. Mr. McLean has placed his yacht, the Jessie Nichol, at the disposal of the Government to search for the schooner, which left this port on the 13th inst. for Oamaru, and has not since been heard of. The yacht is in charge of pilot Stevenson.

DUNEDIN RACES. Dunedin, Thursday. This, the third day of the races, was not quite so popular as those which preceded it. The weather, however, was splendid. The results were as follows : STEEPLECHASE. Ivauhoe, Ban, and Mendora started. Sir Tatton was scratched. Mendora was the favorite. The stewards considered a charge of foul riding against W. Mackay, his rider. The matter is not yet settled. It will not affect the result of the race. TOWN PLATE. This race was uninteresting, only two horses being left in—Mr. Delamam’s Templeton and Hercules. Mr. Delamain decided to win with Templeton, and the horse just cantered round. MASTER ROWE STAKES. Three horses started, and the raee fell to Blatch’s Esther. PORBURY HANDICAP. Tadmore was made a hot favorite ; he led until the straight, when Right Bower ran up, and won cleverly. He was loudly cheered when weighed in. Tadmor was second, and Boomerang third. This was the best race of the meeting. Templeton was scratched.

FLYING HANDICAP. Sonnambula first, Envy second, Elfin-King third. Templeton was scratched. THE BENEVOLENT SCURRY was won easily by Lyndon. This race produced £2O towards the funds of the Benevolent Institution.
