The Customs 'duties , received at this port for the week ending March IS, 1875, were as follows:
A general feeling of dullness appears to have prevailed during the past week, and with the exception of one extensive sale by auction, to which we refer below, transactions in the import market have been limited to local requirements. Trices, although still far too low to meet importers' views, show some tendency to harden, and should importations slacken to some extent we may look tor improved quotations. . At Mr. R. J. Duncan’s sale by auction on March 18 the following prices were realisedlo cases Colman’s thumb blue, SJd. per lb.; pe.*l barley. 20s. per cwt.; 200 boxes De Roubaix candles, to 10jd.; Taylor Bros’, homoeopathic cocoa, J-lb. packets, 15id. per lb.; do. chocolate, 13$d. to 15jd. per lb. ; Cameron’s ginger wine, 18s. per dozen; lime juice cordial, 18s. per dozen ; raspberry vinegar, 20s. to 21s. per dozen, quarts ; 8 cases Keiller’s assorted confectionery, lOjd. per lb.; conversation lozenges, lljd. per lb.; colonial confectionery Dunedin), Bd.; comfits, o]d.; 1 cask trefoil, 5d.; red clover, 9d., and 3 casks white clover, lid, per lb.; 18 cases Chance’s sheet glass, 41 x4oto CO x 4C, 70s. to -140 s. per 100 ft.; colonial jams, 7s. Bd. to 7s. Od. per dozen ; 4 cases maccaroni and vermicelli, In 7-lb. tins, lid. to Hid. per lb.; 130 cases diamond kerosene, Is. lid. pergal.d.p.; Colman’s mustard, 1-lb. tins, 10s. per dozen; j*lb. do., os. 9d. per dozen; tapioca, 7*lb. tins, ssd. per lb.; 5 chests sago, 3Jd. to 3£d. per lb.; 10 cases Morton’s salmon, ISs. to 13s. 6d. per dozen ; 20 cases salad oil, pints, 11s. 6d., half-pints, 7s. 6d. per dozen ; castor oil, 120z5., 10s., and 6ozs; Cs. 9d, per dozen ; Harvey’s sauces, assorted, 11s. 3d. to 11s. Gd. per dozen ; Lea and Perrins do., 135.; dressed rice, 245. per cwt.; 34 cases sardines, 1-tins, Cs. and ss. s>d.; .J-tins, Os. Cd. per dozen ; soda crystals, £lO per ton ; flour of sul phur, £ls per ton; bicarbonate of soda, 21s. per cwt.; Nelson hops, 1875, Is. 4d. perlb.; old oats, Ss. Od.; new do., 3s. 7d per bushel; wheat, Ss. 3d. per bushel: pollard, £6 lbs. per ton ; bran, Is. 2d. per bushel; King’s flour, old, £S 10s. to £lO 10s. per ton ; 35 tons SaunderS and Sons flour (to arrive), at £ll to £ll ss. per ton for sacks and bags.- Melbourne I. C. sugar, £42 10s. per ton; C. do., £3O ; No. 1 W,, £44 10s.; and crushed loaf, £SO perton, d.p.; 500 cases Devoe’s kerosene (to arrive per Light of the Age), withdrawn at Is. 4d. per gallon, in bond. In the produce market keg butter is held for advanced rates, the quantity in stock being low and orders coming forward for larger parcels than holders are inclined to execute, at present quotations. Sales have been mede at Is. 3d. for prime keg. Cheese continues scarce and in good demand at B£d. to 9d. fo prime Canterbury sorts. New flour is quoted at £ll to £lllos. per ton for sacks, and bags in trade lots. Old flour is ruling at £l3. Oats dull, sales at 3s. Cd. to 3s. Bd. per bushel. BY TELEGRAPH, AUCKLAND, Saturday.
