Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follow For Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Mannkau, per s.s. Phrebo, on Monday, at 1 p.m. For Napier and Auckland, per s.s. Southern Cross, this day, at 2 p.m. For Wanganui, per p.s. Manawatu, on Friday, at 1 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Taranaki, on Monday, at S p.m. The steamer Tararua Is expected to leave The Bluff at 11 a.m. this day (Thursday). Telegrams for the Australian colonies or Europe, via Java Cable, will bo received at the Wellington Telegraph Office for transmission to Melbourne up till 9 a.m. to-day. The steamer Mikado is expected to leave Auckland at 10 a.m. on Friday, the 19th instant. Telegrams will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Office for transmission, via San Francisco, up till 9 a.m, of the 19th instant. Edward I). Butts, Chief Postmaster.
