V\ are instructed by the Hon. Mathew Holmes, to offer for sale by auction, as above, all the stud and other stock on his Awa Moa Estate, comprising—--70 head horses, mostly heavy draught mares, of the pure Clydesdale breed, and their progeny, by Eg- ■ linton, Lofty, Duke of Buccleuch, &c., and a few very handsome 2,3, and 4-year-olds, by Croydon and Skylark, suitable for saddle or harness. Among these will be found some well-matched pairs. 90 head short-hom cows and heifers, of the Jessamine, April Flower, Farewell, Christmas Rose, Buttercup, and other first-class tribes, and including the cows which took the first prizes and Government prize for the beat of the species, at Prince Alfred’s Show, Melbourne ; in the bulls used in the herd being Royal Butterfly the 28th, Young Knight, Father Christmas, Don Carlos, and Prince Kellerby, a pure Booth Bull, of the famous Mantilini tribe, imported from England. 6 very promising yearling bulls, the pick of all last season’s calves, by Father Christmas, and a few younger by Don Carlos. ; 40 head good ordinary cows, bred by Mrs. Deans, Riccarton, Canterbury. 300 pure Lincoln ewes and lambs ' 200 do Leicester do do 40 do Lincoln rams, 2-tooth 30 do Leicester do, 2-tooth Also, the stud rams, which have taken so many first prizes at the Oamaru Show These sheep have been very carefully bred, and will be found of superior quality. Last year they- compared favorably with English imported sheep at the Christchurch Ram Fair, the lowest price being 25, and the highest 85 guineas, for 2-tooths. 15 young pigs of the black Berkshire breed 4 double-furrow ploughs 3 swing ploughs 2 reaping machines ; 1 large iron roller 1 Crosshairs clod-crusher ; 2 wooden rollers; and other farming implements. This sale will offer an unrivalled opportunity to breeders and others, as the stock have only been grass-fed, and are in store condition, thus giving purchasers an opportunity of seeing all their bad points, if they have any. Such a large lot of pure stock, collected with much care and at great expense, it may safely be affirmed has never been submitted for sale in New Zealand before.
