Fboji a return in the Gazette of yesterday we observe that in 1874 there were 103 Postoffice money-order and Savings' Bank offices open, as compared with 97 in 1873. The number of orders issued was 62,712, representing £2(33,164 7s. 9d., as compared with 52,351, and £219,258 Is. 7d. ; the number paid was 14,361, representing £186,394 9s. 6d., as against 37,425, representing £157,486 13s. Id. In the Savings' Bank department, the number of accounts opened was 10,346, as compared with 7352 ; those closed were 5727, as compared with 3816. The total amount of the deposits was £699,249 14s. 3d., as compared with £580,542 ss. sd. ; and the amount of withdrawals £620,155 Bs. 9d., as against £425,908 3s. 3d. The excess of withdrawals in 1373 over deposits was only £83,103 12s. lid., as compared with £154,634 2s. in 1874.
