NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

A Gazette was published on the 4th, which only reached us yesterday. It makes the following announcements regarding the judicial districts:—

, -By an ’Order in Council, dated, the 3rd instant, the Westland district is assigned to Mr. Justice Johnstou, in the room of Judge. Richmond, who has obtained leave of absence from the colony. Another Order in Council assigns the Nelson district to Mr. Justice Gillies, in the absence of Judge Richmond. , The appointment of Thos. B. Gillies, Esq., and Joshua Strange Williams, Esq., to be Judges of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, is announced.

J. H. Levein, Esq., Mayor of Nelson, has been appointed a justice of the peace. Mr. A. Van Zandt Macdonald, has been appointed manager of the Auckland and Mercer railway, vice J. Stewart, C.E. Letters of naturalisation have - been issued, amongst others, to -Berger-Sorensen, - settler, Karere, Manawatu, and Benot Johnsen, settler, same place.' M!r. ;H. C. Wilmer is gazetted deputy registrar of - the Supreme Court, vice Hammerton, promoted: also, registrar of births, marriages, and deaths,and also, vaccination inspector for the district of Wellington. Messrs.' Compton and Syme are gazetted Commissioners of the Waste Lands Board for the province of Taranaki. -The jxiedical certificate required by the Execution of Criminals Act, 1858, in the case of Nutana, who was hanged at Auckland for homicide, is published for general information. The resignation of Honorary Sub - Lieutenant -H., Hickson, Te Aro School Rifle Volunteer Cadets, is " accepted. The tender of John' Kirkpatrick, Westport, for the -Waimangaroa contract,-Mount Rochfort railway (formation only), for £9005 125., has been accepted. The highest rejected ? tender was for £9793 15s. The traffics returns on the Wellington-Master-ton. railway, for four weeks ending 27th February, 1875,"are as follow:—Passengers, £370 8?.; parcels, See., £6; '-goods, £B6 4b l Bd.; total, .£462 12s.
