Tea.... ~ 66 0 6 shipping &C. 82 5 3 Coffee and chicory .. .. 1 10 0 £2784 3 0 A moderate trade has been done during the past week, but transactions have been mostly of a limited and retail character, and without influence on quotations, which are comparatively unaltered from our last report. Stocks are large, and in some cases excessive, while at the rate importations are reaching us, there can be little prospect of improved rates ruling for some time to come. A few lines in oilman’s stores are low in stock and wanted ; but with this exception wo are amply supplied. The kerosene per Falrllo has been shipped on to Dunedin, to tho relief of this market; but as we have advices of largo shipments direct from New York on tho way and daily expected, present quotations do not range above 2s. Id. per gallon d.p. At K. J. Duncan’s sale by auction of spirits, wines, groceries, &c., tho following prices were realised Case gin, boll brand, 135.; Bruno Silva’s port, four diamonds, in quarters, os.; in octaves, 10s. Gd. per gallon in bond. Manndcr’s stout, quarts, Bs. Cd. and 95.; pints, Cs, 9d. to 7s. Star of India alo; 95., quarts; Cs. 3d. to Cs. Cd. for pints. Tennant's ale, quarts, 10s. Cd., d.p. Associated Vineyard Proprietor's brandy, flasks, 28s. per case; qr-ca«ka, Cs. per gallon in bond. Bass’s ale, quarts, 10s. 9c1.; pints, 7s. 9d. Jeffrey's stone ale, 9s. Cd.: do., in glass, 10s. Cd. per dozen. Lemon Hart’s rum, 10 0.p., 3s. 9d. to 3s. 10d.; White’s do, 3s. 9d. per gallon. Deinhardt's moselle, 60s. for quarts ; pints, 265.; Barsac, 28s. per dozen. Port and sherry, 265. to 325. per dozen, d.p.; sherry, in quarters, 7». pet gallon, in bond. Dunvillo'a whisky, 165.; Long John, do., 175., in bond.
Bisquit Dubouche brandy, 4Gs. 6d. ; Martells do., 525. per dozen, d.p.; Cliefry wine, in qt-casks (Nelson), 7s. to Bs. Od. per gallon. .Mauritius sugar. No. 2,-W, £43 and £42 per ton. Sardines, quarters. ;.Cs.; halves, Bs. 6d. per dozen. Morton’s half-pint capers and currie powder, Cs. per dozen : salad oil, ’’’ lobsters, 10s. 3d.; salmon, 135.; sultanas a . an 6Jd. per lb.; Elcmc raisins, 5Jd.: sperm candles 10.1.. fine salt, 775. Cd. per ton ; boiled linseed oil, 4s. 9d. per gallon; window glass, withdrawn; nutmegs 3s. 9d. per lb.: ground ginger. Is. pet lb.; thumb b ue, SJd., No. 1 starch, 4d.; tea, in half-chests, 2s. 3d. per lb.; in boxes; 21s. to 245.; saddles, 71s. to 905., Ac. In New Zealand produce, keg butter is firm at lOd. to Hd. per lb. for home consumption, owing to the high price of fresh; but as there is no demand for export to the other provinces, it is not unlikely that many of those who have been holding out for high prices may find the article spoiled by the delay, at was the case some years back. Cheese is in fair supply at Od. to Old. for prime Canterbury. Bacon and hams are readily quitted at Is. and Is. 2d. for cloth packed ; inferior, lOd. Flour dull, with little doing : Oamaru and Canterbury quoted as £l3los. per ton for old Hour for bakers’parcels, with a downwardtendency, asquotations from Canterbury for newflour are very low. Oats, nothing doing ;• old oats are quoted at 4s, 6d. to 4s. 9d. per bushel; new, do., 3s. 9d. to 45.; but dealers will not - operate in the present unsettled state of the market. From advices received, the May has reached Mauritius, and was to leave early in May for Adelaide, where she would discharge a portion of her cargo and probably leave, with 200, tons of flour for this port. .
