THE CO-OPERATIVE BAKING SOCIETY.
TO THE EDITOR. ; Sir, —Had. I been present at the .time of Mr. Worth’s speech at the late meeting bt tho above society I would not have troubled you. Mr. Worth, the chairman of the. committee of management, the radical reformer of abuses, which existed only by his own connivance or permission, says that I worked hand-in-hand, with the" treasurer, and that he never gave an account of the state of Tho society’s finances. Sir, lam a quiet man—a man of peace; and have a great repugnance to a row. But I have no hesitation in. saying that Mr. Worth told a. deliberate lie.
Mr. Compton rendered a monthly account bt the amount of cash received and expended by him. Mr. Compton acted as the society's banker, and no person having once obtained the chairman’s signature as to the correctness of his account ever had to apply twice for payment. Mr. Worth’s good sense should teacli him that it ho has' an animus against the secretary he should not drag into the scope of his abuse the name of a man who, I will venture to say, is regarded, by his fellowcitizens as one who would not sell his fair fame or break his word for mote wealth than Mr. Worth or myself are ever likely to possess.—l am, ke., O. Moony. Courtenay place, February 22.
