Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: For Wanganui, per p.s., Manawatu, on Thursday, at 1 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Phcebe, on Friday, at 3 p.m. For Nelson, Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika, and Australia, per s.s. Albion, on Friday, at 4 p.m. For Napier and Poverty Bay, per s.s. Eangatira, on Monday, at 4 p.m. ■ Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The'steamer Tararua is expected to leave The Bluff, at 11 a.m, on Thursday, the 18th inst. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe via Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Office for transmission to The Bluff up till 9 o'clock of the 18th inst.
