The Sydney Empire states that the Imperial Government have given H.M.S. Pearl to the New Zealand Government for a training ship, and that Bhe will be stationed at Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. George Darrell arrived per Hero. Lytteitok, Monday. The Rakaia arrived yesterday, 81 days from Plymouth, with 363 immigrants and 19 saloon passengers. She has been placed in quarantine. There were 11 deaths of children, 55 cases of measles, and S of scarlet fever on board. Five cases are still remaining. BLEXUEtsr, Monday. The Eev. Charles Clark preached in the Wesleyan Church yesterday. The congregation included members of other churches, and the church was crowded. The- effect was immense, and a rush is expected to-night at his lecture. The entries for the Marlborough races on the IGth and 17th instant were made last Saturday night. A larger number of horses were entered than on any previous occasion. All are locally owned except I". Neale's g.c. Dick Turpin. Lyell, Monday. The Times, this morning, says it is stated on good authority that the Government do not at present intend to carry out the contemplated changes necessitating the removal of the various Judges to other parts of the colony. Under these circumstances it is not likely that Justice Gresson will resign, although it is understood that his Honor is prepared to do so as from 10th March next.
