THE CHORAL SOCIETY.
Sir, —Several locals have appeared of late in your paper reflecting on the condition of the society, and, to some extent, on the committee; generalities as to “a thorough reorganisation being necessary,” are also indulged in. May I inquire what he meant by “reorganisation?” What the committee require is more support from the musical public, and every effort has been made to induce that section of the community to attend the rehearsals, but without success. The committee are at present in the position of being compelled to give two more concerts to keep faith with the subscribers. Such locals as appeared in your issue of Saturday are not calculated to assist in making the society more popular; and I may here inform the writer that a vacancy exists in the committee, to which he may be appointed, if he is willing to assist the society in other ways than by unfavorable criticism, —I am, &c., J. R. Georoe, Hon. Treasurer..
