Silt, —As an admirer of fast performances, if I am to believe the official time given by the sporting reporter of your evening contemporarv, the Eveninu Post, Moran, tlie winner of that race, must be an extraordinary runner ; so much so, that he performed his distancein a time that has beaten anything on record, viz.. Imin. 53secs. Admitting that Moran has proved himself a good mile runner, I think _4min. 54secs. would be something nearer the time it was run in. As timing is a .very essential part in pedestrianism, the Press should be very careful in publishing it, as it has a tendency to mislead the public in general.
