Mails close at the Chief Tost Office, Wellington, as follows: Tor Plcton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manukau, per s.a. Taranaki, this day, at 12.30 p.m. For Sandwich Islands, America, the West Indies, Europe, &c., via San Francisco, per s.s. Wellington, on Tuesday, 19th inst., at noon. Money orders and registered letters at 10 a.ra. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Bluff, and Chatham Islands, per s.s. Wellington, this day, at 1 p.m. Edward D. Burra, Chief Postmaster. The steafeer Hero is expected to leave Auckland at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the 9th instant. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe via Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph office for transmission to Sydney, up till 9 a.m. of the oth inst. The steamer Otago is expected to leave Hokitika at 11 a.m. on Saturday, the 9th inst. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe via Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph office, fer transmission to Melbourne, up till 9 a. nr. of the Oth inst.
