The steamer Wallace, from Nelson, is ashore on the South Spit. She is expected to get off in a few days with the spring tides. LYTTELTON, Thursday. Cleared for Newcastle—Craig Ewen, Malcolm, and Especulador. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s ship Dorotto was berthed this day for loading home. PORT CHALMERS, Thursday. Arrived. —Ladybird, from Lyttelton, at 1 p.m. The ship Calypso Is in the Graving dock for overhaul. The ketch Falcon arrived from Blenheim early yesterday morning. The p.s. Manawatu, Captain Griffiths, arrived early yesterday morning from Flaxbourne. The brigantine Seabird arrived late on Wednesday night from Hokitika. She will load pipes for the West Coast water-race. The ship Howrah was berthed at the Queen’s wharf yesterday morning. The following Is the report of the voyage of the ship Soukar from London :—Left E. I. Docks on Friday, 21st August, 1574, swung the ship at Grcenhithe, and embarked emigrants and luggage the same afternoon at Gravesend. 22nd: Passed survey, proceeded to the Nore and anchored for the night. Sunday 23rd, at noon, passed through the Downs and landed pilot. Light easterly winds down Channel till the 25th, when we landed the pilot off the Start. From 26th to 31st strong S.W. gales and high sea, followed by a strong west wind, making but poor progress till the 3rd of September. Passed the Island of Madeira on the oth instant, had alight N.E. trade, which wo lost in 15deg. south. From thence strong southerly and S.W. winds until crossing the equator on the 26th in long. 19deg. west. Had moderately strong S.H. trade down to the Island of Trinidad, which was sighted on Saturday, October 3rd. After passing had two days’ calm in sight of the island, and a continuance of light pleasant weather until abreast of the Cape, which was passed on the 23rd inst. on the parellel of 45deg. S., strong southerly winds. In lat. 44deg. 4Ssec. S, long. 53deg. 31 min. saw a small iceberg to the northward of us, it appeared to be about half-a-mlle long, and 150 ft. high. On the 31st ult experienced a heavy S.E. gale, which lasted about twelve hours, raising a very high sea, the ship rolling heavily and taking large quantities of water on board. Had moderate breezes and continual wet weather till the 11th, when another severe gale was encountered from the S.W., which lasted till the 13th, blowing a perfect hurricane in the squalls with terrific flashes of lightning, the bar, being down to 25‘75. Had another succession of light winds and rain till the south end of ' Tasmania was passed on the 22nd ult. Moderate breezes from thence till the 2Gthwith fine weather, when we fell in with light variable winds and calms. Sighted the land to the southward of Cook Strait at noon on the 2Sth, the wind being light at N.E. After lying becalmed for three days off Cape Farewell got a light breeze from the NAY. through Cook Strait, and made Pencarrow Head at four p.m. on Tuesday, Ist December. The passage throughout has been remarkable for light winds and the quantity of rain.
