Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: For Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manuka, per s.s. Taranaki, this day, at 1 p.m. For Napier, Auckland, and Fiji, per s.s. Star of the South, this day, at 11 a.m. For Castlo Point, Napier, and Poverty Bay per s.s. Rangatira, on Monday, at 4 p.m. Edward D. Butts. Chief Postmaster. The steamer Albion is expected to leave Hokitika at' 11 a.m. on Saturday, the 28th instant. Telegrams for the Australian colonies, or Europe, via Java cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Offlco, for transmission to Melbourne, up to 9 o'clock a.m. of the 28th instant.
