Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: — For Wanganui, per s.s. Stormbird, this day, at 1 p.m. For Foxton, per s.s. Napier, this day, at 1 p.m. For Nelson, Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika, and Australia (with supplementary mails for Europe, ludia, China, Ac.), per s.s. Albion, on Thursday, at 5 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Wellington, on Thursday, at 3 p.m. For Picton. Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manuka, per s.s. Taranaki, on Friday, at 1 p.m. For Napier, Auckland, and Fiji, per s.s. Star of the South, on Friday, at 11 a.m. Edward D. Butts. Chief Postmaster. The steamer Wonga Wonga is expected to leave Auckland to-morrow (Wednesday), the 25th inst., at 11 o’clock a.m. Telegrams for the Australian colonies or Europe, via Java cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Office, for transmission to Sydney, up to 9 o’clock a.m. to-morrow.
