THE VOLUNTEERS,

Tho Kaiwarrawarra Rifle Volunteers fired for district representatives yesterday. Captain Crowe, of the Veterans, superintended the firing. The following was the result :—Corporal Nairn, 71 points ; Member Menzies, 69 ; Lieutenant Thompson, 64 ; Sergt. Harris, 59 ; Member Compton, 49 ; Sergt. Beale, 47. The twelve highest scorers for the Wellington district are the following :—Gunner Batkin, W.A.V., 88 points ; Captain Crowe, V., 87; Member Bannister, V., 85; Corporal Diamond, W.A.V., 83 ; Sergeant Turner, W.S.V., 82 ; Gunner Mason, W.A.V., 81 ; Sergeant Monk, Makara, 80 ; Member Robinson, V., 77 ; Gunner Grace, W.A.V., 76 ; Robinson, Makara, 76 ; Rountree, W.S.V., 76. These twelve will have to compete again for two to represent the district in the firing at the Thames. BY TELEGRAPH. WANGANnr, Thursday., ' Tho Wanganui Rifles have fired for choice of representatives. Churton, 96 ; Collard, 92 ; Somerville, 91. Five more scored over 80 ; average, 79. Grahamstown, Thursday. Tho Naval Brigade and No. 2 Hauraki fired in the representatives choice match to-day. The Navals were—Armstrong, 92 ; Newlick, 91 ; Brown, 88 ; Sykes, 87 ; Grundy, 84 ; and Nelson, 87. Kemp, No. 2 Hauraki, made 84. Eight other Navals made over 70 ; and one No. 2, made 70. Nelson, Thursday. The City Rifles' firing for representatives : Crossman, 81 ; Burn, 80. Dunedin, Thursday. The Artillery have fired for district representatives. The following is the result :—Lieut. Muir, 91 ; T. Muir, 87 ; Adams, 83. Poivr Chalmers, The firing for tho representatives of the district took place to-day, under the charge of Captain Oopeland, of the North Dunedin Rifles. G. Wilson scored 94 points, and Captain Goldie made 90. Tho weather was fine. Tho distances were 200, 400, 500, and 600 yards ; seven shots at each range.
