FitiDAY, November 13. Nearly oGGOO wag taken in shillings at the gates of the Agricultural Show yesterday. 'Die metropolitan Races were continued today.- The weather was fine, and there was a largo attendance. Handicap Huhme Race of 50sovs., added to a sweepstakes of 3sovs. ; two miles, over eight flights of hurdles. Hedge's Theodore, 9st. lllbs: 1 Lunn's Alice Grey, lOst. 71bs. , 2 Alice Grey lost several lengths at the start. Both horses jumped splendidly throughout. Alice Grey gained gradually all the way round, and half up the straight course was on level terms, hard ridden, but Theodore let out, and won easily by two lengths. The Christchurch Plate of ISOsovs., added to a sweepstakes of ssovs. Previous winner;; to carry extra weight. Two miles. Mr. Redwood's Ngaro, 3yra., Cst. Slbs. ... 1 Mr. Nosworthy's Traitor, 'iyrs., Sst. 71b5.... 2 Mr. O'Brien's Tambourini, aged, lOst. lllbs. 3
Yatteriua, Templeton, Wainui, Sonnambula, and the Ada colt were scratched. Betting was five to four on Traitor, three to one against Ngaro, and two and three to one against Tambourini. Traitor made the running at a hot pace, Tambourini lying second for the first mile, when Ngaro began to go up. He collared Traitor in the straight running, and after a magnificent race home, won by half a head. Tambourini was out-paced from the start, and was pulled up in the straight. Time : 3min. 4Ssecs. The Metropolitan Handicap of lOOsovs., added to a sweepstakes of ssovs. each. One mile and a half. Mr. Delamain's Templeton, 4yrs., 9st. lib. 1 Mr. Campbell's .Tadmor, 3yrs., 7st. 71bs. ... 2 Mr. Barker's Remnant, 3yrs., 6st. lllbs. ... 3 Yatterina, Parawhenui, Rangi, The Belle and The Exile, also ran. Tambourini, Traitor, Sonnambula, Toi, Marvel, Emmeline colt, and ' Zig-Zag colt, were scratched. After nine false starts the lot were got away on fair terms, Parawhenui leading. Yatterina was last when half-way over the course.. Templeton and The Exile gained on Parawhenui, and the latter was soon afterwards passed by Tadmor. - Coming down the straight Templeton, Tadmor, and Remnant came to the front, and after a splendid struggle Templeton won by half a length. Time : 2min. 48sec. Parawhenui and Yatterina were the favorites at starting. Consolation Handicap of 40 sovs. One mile. The Exile, 6st. 71b. ... 1 Waverley, 7st. 31b 2 Parawhenui, Sst. 101 b. ... ... ... 3 The Exile led all the way and won easily.
