The Atlantic has arrived from Jervis Bay. Dunedin, Monday. A patient named Henrickson jumped from a window in the top storey of the hospital on Saturday night. She was mad when admitted. This was not known to the authorities. She died within half-an-hour after.the leap. According to a private telegram received by the Easby, Papapa being unlikely to start for the Melbourne Cup, Lurline is daily growing in public favor. The Education Board has accepted the resignation of Mr. Hawthorne. He was offered, andrefusedjthereotorship of the Normal School. ' 7 p.m. An inquest was held to-day on the body of Mrs. Henrickson. The verdict of the jury was that death was the result of an accidental fall from a window whilst the deceased was temporarily insane. The only person blameable was the husband, who was censured for taking her to the hospital instead of to the asylum, knowing that she was insane. At a meeting of the Education Board the scarcity of efficient teachers was again referred to. The Superintendent said he had written to the provincial immigration agents on the matter. The Board recommended the abolition of school prizes, and suggested that certificates should be given instead.
