AT MEADOW BANK, TAIERI PLAIN, OTAGO, N.Z. DRIVER, STEWART, & CO. beg to intimate that they have received instructions from Geo. M. Bell, Esq., to sell by public auction, at his farm, Meadow Bank, East Taieri (ten miles from Dunedin, Otago, N.Z.), on Thursday, October 22nd, 1874, the whole of that gentleman's Waimea herd of PURE-BRED SHORT-HORNED CATTLE, Consisting of—--12 bulls And 30 cows and heifers. This herd has been bred from cows purchased from Messrs. Morton Brothers and Leach, of Victoria, at their sale in 1867, the excellence of whose stock is too well known to need any comment. Mr. Bell’s original selections comprised the “April Flower” tribe, all of which were large prize-takers, and pronounced by the Australian press as being some of the very best animals ever exhibited by those celebrated breeders. The sire used in this herd is “Prince Frederick,” bred by the late William Robertson, Esq., of Colao, Victoria, out of the imported cow “Fanny,” by the “Beau.” Catalogues, -with full pedigree of each animal, may be had upon application to the undersigned. JOHN KING has been favored with instructions from Captain Tosswill to sell by public auction -at his sale rooms, Tnnaru, on Thursday, 29th October, 1874, his FREEHOLD ESTATE of CLAREMONT, which comprises about 2197 acres of the best agricultural and pastoral land in the district, and situated within eight miles of the town of Timarn, from which it is accessible by three direct and good roads. The improvements consist of a well-built eight-roomed dwelling-house, with all necessary offices, cottage, stable, woolshed and yards, cowshed and yards, and other necessary outbuildings. The land is fenced, and subdivided into twelve paddocks. 450 acres under first wheat crop (which crop is not for sale) 130 acres sown down to English grass, of which twenty acres are also in oats 147 acres let for one crop 200 let for breaking up, and the remainder is in Native grass, which grows richly on the estate. There are also a few acres of bush land; there is permanent water in each paddock,; all the buildings and fences are new and of the best description. This valuable property is capable of being divided into two or more farms, with an equal division of natural advantages.
