[Pbcss Telegiupu Agency.] Auckland, "Wednesday. Mr. Gillies addressed his constituents last night. Hl3 speech was occupied chiefly with a review of business of the last session—a recapitulation of measures introduced and their results. He - spoke strongly regarding the action of the Government relative to the abolition of the Northern Provinces, and attributed the introduction of the bosolutiona to Mr. Kussell. He said he was favorable to the abolition of Provincialism, not because of any inherent defects in the system, but because it acted as a buffer between the General Government and the people, and prevented the growth of public opinion. But we must have all the Provinces abolished or none. The Government had no right to alter the Constitution without an appeal to the people. If electors were prepared to forfeit their constitutional rights, he would place his resignation in their hands. The meeting was enthusiastic, and a unanimous vote of confidence passed. The doctor of the immigrant ship Oxford has laid various charges against the captain and mate, and also regarding the deficient supply of medical comforts and milk. The charges will be investigated by the immigration

There was a procession, headed by a band. There were five hundred persons present. Mr. o'Conor turned the first sod, and made a good speech, referring to the early struggles of the district, and to the assistance rendered by Mr. Vogel, Mr. McLean, and Mr. Murray, in developing the Mount Eochfort coal-fields. Three cheers were given for Messrs. Vogel, McLean, and Richardson. The sports aro now on, and there i) a ball to-night. Pout Chamikrs, Wednesday. Mr. T. A.
