The rapid progress that has been evident lately at the Hutt proves that among other purely, local institutions a Building and Investment Society, founded on just and liberal principles, and affording equal facilities to small investors and borrowers, will meet with ample support. The objects of the Society are as follows ; To afford facilities to its members for the safe and profitable investment of small savings. To assist its members, by advances repayable by small, monthly or weekly instalments, to purchase freehold properties. To enable persons possessed of land to erect buildings thereon by advances repayable by small Weekly or monthly instalments. To grant loans on the security' of freehold or approved leasehold property. To grant loans to persons on the security of their scrip. • To receive money on deposit. The shares of the Society shall be of the value of sixty pounds each. No one member shall hold more than one hundred shares in his or her own right. The subscription to the Society for each share shall be five shillings per share per month. Each member, on admission, shall pay the sum of two shillings and sixpence, entrance fee. Applications for shares, accompanied by the entrance fee, addressed to the Secretary, will be received by Messrs. Valentine, Burt, Mullins, or Cruickshanks, until the Society’s, office is opened at the Hutt, after which they will be received by the Secretary at the office. Shareholders will be advised as to the date of payment of the first subscription.
