Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: For Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manukau, per s.s. Ladybird, this day, at 11 a.m. For Wanganui, per p.s. Manawatu, this day, at 4 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s, Wellington, this day, at 3 p.m. Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Tararua is expected to leave Bluff at 10 a.m, on Tuesday, Ist September, Telegrams for tho Australian Colonies or Europe via Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington office, for transmission to Melbourne, up to 0 a.m.
