COMMERCIAL.
The revenue collected at the Customs for the week ending August Bth amounted to £2479 Cs. 2d. CHRISTCHURCH. The Times ot Saturday reports same dulness as noted in our last week's report still continues. There have been scarcely any transactions between farmers and merchants, and the large shipments of oats and barley to our outside markets from California, and the report that others are to follow, cause a little unsteadiness in the export business. Flour meets a good town demand. Butter continues scarce; good prime qualities command top prices. Cheese is coming forward slowly;' we quote 5Jd. to 6d. for best qualities. Potatoes arc in fair inquiry. Large orders have been sent to Australia for Auckland market, which, perhaps, will cause prices to ease a little here. We quote £4 ss. as the value in Christchurch, Hams and bacon are in excellent demand, and manufacturers are fully occupied iu executing orders at last week’s prices. BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND. Mr. Alexander Saunders reports Sales: Otago, 10s. Buyers; Bank of New Zealand, 3505.; National Bank, 70s. ; Albion, 525. 6d. ; Cure, 10s.
