French advices report no progress towards forming a Ministry. The correspondent of the Daily Nexus sees “no effectual way out of the dead-look, but by a dissolution or a. coup d’Hat.” Paris, he adds, is perfectly tranquil, and comparatively little general interest is taken in these Ministerial complications. To this he adds as follows :—“ I learn that Marshal McMahon is absolutely resolved to depend exclusively on the Conservatives by whom he was brought to power, and by whom tho septennial riyime was voted. This, of course, increases the difficulty of constructing a new Ministry, as it almost virtually requires the formation of a Cabinet on precisely the same basis as that which lias just been overthrown. M. de Goulard is still trying hard to form a Cabinet; but his difficulties rather increase than diminish. The various factions are becoming more and more intractable, and all refuse to make any concessions.” At tho Hokitika Resident Magistrate’s Court last week, a fraud summons case was heard against a party named Collins, tho sum sought to bo recovered being half-a-crown. Defendant was ordered to pay the amount within forty-eight hours, or sufier four days' imprisonment.
