July 21.—Arrived; Malay and Result, from Wellington. July 22. —Sailed: Camille and Anne and Jane, for Wellington, Another fine addition has been made to the shipping of this port by the enterprising saw mill proprietors, Messrs. Greenfield and Stewart. Their new purchase is the Hannah Broomfield, a remarkably neat-looking brigantine of about 134 tons, whose appearance reflects great credit on the taste and judgment of her purchaser, Mr. Stewart, of the firm above alluded to. The Hannah Broomfield, Captain Dawson, left Sydney on the Kith inst., arriving here yesterday, and has been consequently twelve days out; the length of the passage being accounted for by the bad weather she experienced in the Strait, causing her to spend five days of the passage there. The brigantine brings a general cargo from Sydney, and will next be employed in the timber trade, for which purpose she was bought. The s.s. Stormbird arrived at 1.45 p.m. yesterday, having left Wanganui on the previous day at 7.30 p.m. She experienced light N.W. winds, accompanied by rain, until 10.30 p.m., when they changed to the S.E., and continued with heavy sea until arrival in port. The barque Malay and the ship Result, which sailed from this ]>ort on the 4th and Sth instant respectively, arrived at Newcastle on the 21st. The London correspondent of the Auckland Star writes that the Shipping Company has altered its flag to St. George’s Cross, with blue initials, N.Z.S. Co. The Loch Urr, which sails for Auckland immediately, carries the first new one. The barque Free Trader was loading at Hobarton early in the month for this port, and was to sail on the 15th inst.
