IMPORTATION OF STOCK.
Some valuable stock for breeding purposes was imported from Melbourne, by Mr. E. J. lliddiford, of Te Awaiti, per Claud Hamilton, on her late trip from Melbourne. Respecting them, we have been furnished ivith the following memoranda : Draught filly, Sally McGregor, 3 years old, bred by Mr D. Junor, of Gisbome, Victoria. Took the following prizes :—First prize, at the thirteenth annual show of the Smeaton, Spring Hill and Bullarook Agricultural Association in 1873, as a 2-year-old draught filly. First prize—Silver Medal—at the National Agricultural Society of Victoria's show in October, 1873. Same in 1874. First prize, at the West Bourke Agricultural Society's Show, 1574. Also, a very beautiful draught mare from the same breeder. A pure-bred Hereford bull from the Ercildoun herd, by the celebrated bull Pendragon, imported by Mr. Learmonth, and considered to be tho best bull of the Hereford blood ever imported to Victoria. A pure-bred Hereford heifer, by Pendragon, bred by Samuel Wilson, Esq., of Ercildoun ; dam, FiUpail 2nd, by Launcelot; g. d. FiUpail, by Druid; g. g. d., pure Hereford cow from the imported stock of the Cressy Company. These animals are both entered in the Victorian Herd Boot One hundred and fifteen pure merino rams, of which fifty were bred by Mr. C. B. Fisher, of Adelaide. These are allowed by competent judges to be the best merino rams ever imported into Wellington. The remaining sixtyfive are from the celebrated stud flock of Mr. Learmonth, of Ercildoun. For several of these Mr. Biddiford was offered .£IOO each shortly after his purchase. Sixteen merino ewes frora the same stud flock, bred from the highest class merino sheep in Victoria.
