DUNEDIN. The Daily Times of the 17th reports The past week was a decided improvement on the two pre-ceding-enquiry brisker, and orders more plentiful; but the principal interest that engaged commercial circles was tea. Auction sales of balance of cargoes, ex Eldcrslie and Nicolino the separate importation of two houses—were advertised. The auctioneers, however, announced that the parcel, ex Nicoline, belonging to one of the firms, had been placed privately, and was therefore withdrawn. For the remainder, although there was a fair attendance, no disposition to buy was manifested, only two lines of half-chests having been knocked down. We observe that the same firm will offer at auction, on Tuesday first, balance of Messrs. W. and G, Turnbull's importations, ex Carl, and consisting of superfine and choice congous; and that Messrs. The trade will have an opportunity on the same occasion to replenish their stocks of sugar, 1000 bags of white crystals being advertised and 5000 pockets.
