Blanche arrived in harbor from Auckland yesterday afternoon, having left that port atlOa.ra. on the Sth inst; thus taking seven days for the trip. This, however, is accounted for in the resume of the passage, which is as followsOn leaving Auckland, experienced strong south-west winds, the ship being under sail. Made a good run until ten in the evening of the 11th, being at that time within twenty miles of Cape Palliscr, when a strong gale from the south-west sprang up, which compelled the ship to bo laid-to under elose-reefed main-topsail and fore-staysail until the night of the 13th, whan the wind fell for a short time but again freshened to a strong gale from the north-east, backing to the south-east, until making Cape Palliser again on the morning of the loth, the weather at that time being very thick. The ship then proceeded under steam to this port. The Blanche has on board forty kauri spars for the use of the Naval Depot at Sydney, whither she will proceed on being relieved by H.M.S. Rosario on the New Zealand station, which change is likely to occur shortly. The N.Z.S.S. Co/s s.s. Taranaki, B. Wheeler, commander, arrived here yesterday. The following is a report of her trip:—Left Wellington at 2,30 p.m. on the Sth inst; arrived at Lyttelton at 9.30 a.m. on the 9th. Left at 5.30 p.m. . and arrived at Port Chalmers at noon on the 10th. Left Port Chalmers at 3.30 p.m. on the 12th ; called in to Oamaru at 9.30 p-m., leaving with a full cargo of grain at C p.m. the following evening, and reached Lyttelton at 9 a.m. on the 14th. Left again at 6.30 p.m. and arrived as above. Experienced variable winds and fine weather during the run South, and S.E. winds and thick, rainy weather from Lyttelton to arrival. The little ketch Amateur is safe. A telegram from her master to Messrs Brogden and Sons, dated Foxton, the 15th instant, is to the following effect 41 Foxton, July 15.—Arrived here. Bore up to bar twice; second time leaking. Ran into Queen Charlotte Sound.” . The Manowatu, which arrived about 2 p.m. yesterday, left Wanganui at half-past 8 on Tuesday morning, and experienced a particularly rough passage, having been delayed at Mana for several hours, owing to the boisterous weather. Yesterday afternoon the schooner Jane Elkin put into Wellington Harbor windbound. Owing to the rough weather prevailing yesterday, the departure of the Stormbird was still further postponed. The American barque Eureka, 555 tons register. Captain E. A. Chapel, belonging to the port of Boston, arrived in harbor on the 14th inst. She left Lyttelton on Sunday, and arrived off Wellington Heads on Monday, making the run in the short space of twenty hours. The voyage of the Eureka from New York to the South has already been detailed. She brings to this port 600 tons of notions, details of which will be found in the imports of this issue. The barque is consigned to Messrs. W. and G. Turnbull and Co.
