In the Supreme Court, Kichard Woods, alias Doherty, for larceny, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment; William Polloek for wounding with intent, six months ; William Ollivier, for indecent assault, verdict of not guilty ; John Henderson, for stealing from a dwelling, twelve months ; George Hammond, for stealing a purse, twelve months. A meeting of the Board of the Governors of the Canterbury College was held yesterday. Mr. Ingles moved that the Museum be opened for three hours on Christmas Day and Good Friday. The motion was strongly opposed by the Church party, and ultimately withdrawn. The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce have requested Mr. Montgomery,. M.H.E., to introduce a new Insolvency Bill into the Assembly, the main features of which are identical with the one thrown out last session. Lyttelton, Friday. Live hundred Colonial Bank shares wereapplied for at a meeting held last evening. The single men by Northampton, who were at Camp Bay Station, were released yesterday. The barracks, when cleared, will be occupied by removing some families from Eipa.
