It has been resolved by tho Provincial Council, that a respectful address bo presented to his Honor tho •Superintendent, requesting him to appoint a skilled person as local analyst, to prevent tho adulteration of articles of food or drink. Mi - . W. B. Tosswill, while calling attention in tho Council to tho necessity of immediate action being taken to prevent the adulteration of food, made the announcement that ho was assured by a medical gentleman in Christchurch that only five per cent of what was sold in this city for pepper was really pepper.
