COMMERCIAL.
AUCKLAND. The Herald of Saturday reports:—The wretched state of the weather during the past week has/nilitated somewhat against the activity of business. Since our last report, that for our summary issue, published last Saturday, there lias been nothing worthy of note transacted that we are aware of. A trade sale of ales, wines, and spirits was held to-day by Messrs. E. and H. Isaacs, who report offering extensive lines, and that most of those submitted were (putted. Their report says" The prices ruled for spirits rather in advance of previous sales, but the advance obtained was not equal in extent to that reported in Homo or Australian markets. Martell's bulk brandy realised 0s lid. to 10s.; good second brands, 7s. Od. to Bs.; Martell’s case, 305.; Beehive, 235. to 235, Od.; whisky, in bond, is. 3d. to j>3. 10d.; Danville’s case, 18s. to ms. Od. Of the sherries and ports few lines sold, and tho bidding was dull; ginger wine brought 13s. fid. to 143. Tennent’s ale, d.p., brought 12s. Od. to 12s. 10(1.: Blood’s, 10s. 3d. to ICs. Od.” In grain and produce there has been a little activity, and rates are about tho same as at last quotations. Stocks are equal to present requirements, and shipments to arrive are fairly numerous. Present quotations are—oats, ss ; Cd.; bran. Southern, Is. Bd.; mills, 25.; potatoes, £5 10s.: butter, Is. 2d. to Is. -id.; maize, os, Od. The Hero brought a timely shipment of the latter, easing prices a trifle. CHRISTCHURCH. The Times of Saturday last reports : There is little to report in the way of purchases Only a few odd lots of wheat have come in during the week, at prices ranging from 4s. 4d. to 4s, Od. A fair amount of Export business lias been doing, the quantity of’wheat shipped during the week on board vessels in Lyttelton, exclusive of London shipments, amounting to about 15,000 sacks. Wo have heard of no first hand transactions in oats, which we still quote at 4s. to 4s. 3d. to farmers, Stocks held by exporters are getting low ; tire shipments during the week having been considerable. Farmers are almost cleared out of barley, which is worth from 4s. 4(1. to 4sMJd. There have been some extensive merchant transactions during the week at prices withheld. There is no alteration in millers' quotations for flour, &c., which remain as follows :—Flour, .Cl2 in sacks, £l2 10s. in 1001 b. bags, £l3 for 501 b. bags ; bran, £« ss. per ton ; sharps, £7 per ton, with 10s. extra f.o.b. in Lyttelton ; oatmeal, £25 per ton. Consequent on shortness of feed, butter still continues to fetch high rates, farmers receiving 12Jd. to 13d ; cheese is saleable at old. to Gd. : bacon and hams in cloth are worth Sid. f.o.b. in Lyttelton ; haras only, Hd., bacon 71(1. AVo quote potatoes at from £3 ss, to £3 7s. Cd. Although, in stock, there is little doing, wc have to report the sale of a station in tiiis Province, which wo trust may be tlio beginning of a number of transactions of this kind. The saic we allude to is that of tire Double Hill Station, on the Upper Rakaift, which, with 30,000 sheep, has realised £20,000. The run comprises 114,500 acres leasehold. B Y TELEGRAPH.
