LYTTELTON.
Christchurch Colonists' Society. — On Tuesday, the 14th instant, at a meeting of the Christchurch Colonists' Society, Mr. J. Brittan. in the chair, Mr. Martin moved, and Mr. E. J. Wakefield seconded, a resolution condemnatory of the act of the Superintendent in sending down the Provincial Council Extension Bill, with amendment, to the Council, instead; of forwarding it by the steamer to his Excellency. Mr. Packer gave a history of the bill. Mr. Oliivier argued the legality of his Honor's conduct. The chairman reviewed the^ proceedings of the Council, and stated his opinion of the indiscretion, if not the illegality, of his Honor's conduct. The resolution was then put and carried. — Lyttelton Times, November 22.
